Would you like to increase traffic to your food blog?  Yummly.com is currently the leading referral site for my blog.  I get more visitors from Yummly than I do from Pinterest, Google, or Facebook.  If you want more viewers to find your blog you should sign up too.  It's also a great place to search for recipes even if you aren't a blogger.  Yummly is a great resource for any food enthusiast.

I signed up for yummly shortly after I started my blog.  At that time, I did not know how to really use it.  I saw that it was a place with many recipes from all over the internet so I set up my profile and that was it.  I occasionally searched Yummly for recipe ideas, but I didn't know how to add my own recipes to the site.  That has changed now and my blog is benefiting.

Thanks to a few other blogger's posts, I learned how to easily add recipes from my blog into the Yummly collection.  The first step, after creating your profile, is to add the Yummly bookmarklet.  This is just a button added to the toolbar of your browser page.  When you are on the recipe post that you want to add you click "Yum" and it automatically adds the recipe to Yummly.  You will then see the recipe in your recipe box (under your profile in Yummly).

So simple.  Now your recipe is in Yummly for all to see and search.  The next thing you will want to do, if you are a food blogger, is check out Yummly for Publishers.  This is a page that gives you more tips for integrating Yummly with your blog.  Once a recipe from your blog has been "Yummed" Yummly automatically generates a publisher page for you.  This is a page specific to your blog that shows all of the "Yummed" recipes from your site.  Check out Joybee, What's for Dinner's page.

You can also "Yum" recipes from anywhere on the web and on Yummly.  Any recipe you "Yum" will be automatically added to your recipe box in Yummly.  From your recipe box, you can search for a specific recipe and group each recipe into a collection.  Collections can be anything such as 'breakfast' 'lunch', 'dinner' 'vegetables' 'desserts' etc.  I even made a collection just for my blog recipes.

You can search Yummly for recipes too.  I'm still learning all of the cool features but it's a great way to find recipes.  You can search by ingredient(s), blogs only, only recipes with pictures, occasion, diet restrictions, nutrition, cooking method, the options seem endless.  It's easy to waste the whole day looking at recipes (is that really waste?).  Yummly also learns your tastes by what you've "Yummed" and will give you recommendations.  If you haven't checked out Yummly yet I definitely recommend that you do.
